History

Kinston Builders Supply began as Coastal Building Components, a joint venture formed by A.L. Perry between Goldsboro Builders Supply, Home Builders Supply in Greenville and Askews Building Supply in New Bern. The truss manufacturing company opened in 1983 and operated until it was sold in 1987 to Shoffner Industries. It continued as an operating plant later consolidating with another Shoffner plant located in Bunn, NC. In 1989, the facility was purchased by the Perry family, renovated and opened as Builders Bargain Center. A year later, David Perry purchased 100% of the company and operated it under the same name until 2006. As the customer base transitioned to a contractor base, the operation changed its focus leading the management team to change the name to Kinston Builders Supply. KBS is now celebrating it’s 20th year of operation. For the past 4 years, KBS has been the leading supplier to professionals serving Lenior and the surrounding counties. KBS is a division of Goldsboro Builders Supply which has been operating since 1953.
